Poor kiddo

Today was "shot day" for Benny:( he got 3 and is feeling yucky. He just wants to nurse and be held. So that is exactly what I am doing. Laine is snuggled in next to us and I'm tickling her back. Brad, Angelynn and Landon are at a wedding rehearsal for some friends. As I lay here loving on my two smallest I am reminded of all the times my parents nursed me back to health and loved me to sleep.

As most of you know, I was a pretty sick little kid. I has chronic kidney infections which lead me to the loss of my left kidney at age 6. Pretty painful stuff for a wee one. Unfortunately, I was old enough to remember a lot of it. Many times the antibiotics made my stomach sick and the fevers caused nightmares and general discomfort, not to mention the flank pain associated with this ailment. My parents ALWAYS tried so hard to help me through. My mother rocked me to sleep so many times wearing her cream sweater and tickled my back for hours. My father spent many nights next to my bed (home or hospital) watching over me and reading me stories in his special voices. He even created stories about a bunny and a puppy which were me absolute favorite. They must've been so tired but they always were there. I hope I can be half the parent my folks are. It makes me so sad to see my kids hurting. As for now I am going to savor every moment to hold my Children close and care for them when they are sad or sick. What a blessing they are! Time moves too fast and I don't want to miss any of it.

Glad it is come home day!

This week has been a busy one!!
Monday was grocery shopping, glasses ordering, gymnastics and send off day.
Tuesday was send food for teachers, tball ( grateful it was cancelled cuz it was COLD), gymnastics and catchup. Wed was clean day, clean your room Wednesday, talent show auditions (angel), and a haircut for moo. Today was picture day for moo (and big and Ben), gymnastics, fence quote, garbage day, and I'm sure I forgot something! Tomorrow Ben has his checkup and its rehearsal for a wedding! Whew!!

In all this hustle and bustle I am reminded how fast time passes. Everyday I have gotten lots of chances to play! Wii ghosts, waltzing with a princess, fighting decepticons, tickling, laughing and just enjoying these four blessings:)

I'm so proud of them! Ben is eating solids, Laine is pretending (playing babies and cooking in her kitchen), Landon is trading and adding up a storm, Angelynn bravely auditioned alone for talent show when her partner didn't show (way to go kiddo!!). I have managed real pants all week lol!

Mommy you's my fwiend...

As a mother sometimes things get tough! My job isn't to be my children's buddy, but rather their mother. Lainey says to me "mommy you's my fwiend" and I cherish the moment. I used to be Landon's best friend (we called each other wall-e and Eva) and Angelynn used to say the same. Now we are battling the teen years and I'm definitely not a friend lol.

When I was a teen a counselor (used loosely) told my mother that I didn't need a mom, I needed a friend. At the time I thought "ya man!"...... Now that I'm the mom I see why she vehemently disagreed with him.

This weekend Angelynn attended a cool youth conference and refueled her faith after a few VERY tough days. Super cool to hear the Christian radio station on, are her reading her bible and see her heart re-softening after the last 2 weeks.

We rearranged the master bedroom, removing the co-sleep *sniffle*, reorganized the bathrooms, rearranged the play room and movie area, set up Brad's surround sound, picked paint colors and did lots of laundry. Oh! And brad fixed the neighbors fence :/, and hung window shades!! Woot!!

Moo and big played LOTS of wii and we tried a few new recipes:) slowly but surely we are customizing this place.:)

We are approaching t ball! (Starts Tuesday!) and co-Ed softball for church (soooooo excited!). Moo has pics Thursday, angel has gymnastics and the Orthodontist AND is a bridesmaid on Saturday:)!! Brad will be running sound and I will wrangle kids. Hoping to paint Laines room Friday!!

I finally ordered new glasses today and am so happy about it. I needed them badly. Contacts are great but I need glasses in a pinch. We also got te shopping done so hopefully a smoothe week ahead. Except for Friday, Benjamin gets shots :( poor sweety!

Another day another tantrum

Bet you think it's my two year old I am referencing in the blog title. Nope it's my 13 year old! After a week of rudeness she finally lost the privilege of the dance :( she's been struggling all week. Missing assignments, smarting off, staying up past her bedtime, oversleeping and in general being snotty. Today she pushed too far and I had to lay down the hammer :(.
She wanted to call her bio dad of course, in hopes he would sympathize and remove the consequences. No such luck, he told her to do her chores. He then had not much else to day. She finally headed to school, no iPod and a scowl on her face. Ugh! Teens!!

Amazingly I got moo to school on time:$ paid bills (boo!), played play dough and tidied some upstairs.

Last night was fun:) brad was home, the littles played wii (on the new wii that had to be gotten as the old one gave up the ghost), and we all had Pitts pizza (angelynn's fave),

Weather is finally improving:) dinner is in the crock and I'm happily planning to begin painting our inside! That is if I can survive another verbal assault from my tween :/.

Whiny X 3

Man! Sometimes kids wake up OFF! This is especially the case when the weather and pressure changes. We were greeted this week with snow. A few inches even!

Angelynn wrapped up yesterday with a snot tude and is riding a fine line. She really wants to attend this dance Saturday but it isn't looking good with the sass mouth she has! :/ she slept through her alarm today which just has added to her crabbiness. Hopefully she comes home with a better attitude (and her coat, which she seems to leave behind everywhere!).

Landon is tired and cranky. He is growing so his body aches. Poor guy. He desperately wanted to play on my phone today but I had to say no, he was moving sooooo slow! We made line up but just barely! He was pretty unhappy to have to wear his snow boots today, he's ready for sun!

Laine is tired. She was the first one up. She was throwing a tantrum so I put her in time out. I forgot where I was in measuring for my cookies and made a mistake. A whole batch ruined and in the trash :/... This mama is ready for nap!

I got the privilege of shoveling today, I'm feeling the burn already! I need to start working out. Tonight is TUESDAY! Laine loves Tuesday, why?! Cuz it is happy meal day! Funny how something small brings so much joy:) love my crabby, whiny kids.

And so begins another week!

This weekend went by way too fast! We wrapped up Saturday with family movie night, we watched Rise of the Guardians. A bit scary but everyone liked it: (Laine didn't watch, she was busy fixing sisi's hair).

Sunday was fun day! We got to be in the nursery at church:).. Ben and Laine had
Fun. We ran into town to use some coupons at Old Navy and Penny's. everyone got some new spring duds. A woman at the register even shared her old navy dollars as she wasn't able to use them! :) we stopped for Wendy's (using the mysteriously vanishing gift cards from before) and headed home. We raked up the grass from the power raker and o course had to go to Walmart for extras we forgot.

We had a yummy dinner (ham, potatows, watermelon and fresh strawberry muffins). Angelynn went to a short youth group an moo played Xbox. Angelynn is very excite as youth group is doing a fun conference fri and sat AND she is going to a local dance WITH A BOY!!!! I am not sure i am ready for that! He is a good boy though so I am doin ok.

Now it is catchup time :/ sometimes I feel like all I do is laundry!
